To clean away the residue between the fretboard and the arm of the violin, I use a solution of 10 drops of a dilute, water-based lubricant (not petroleum jelly) on the fretboard and in the body. This is similar to how you might clean a car (sodium alcohol and isopropyl alcohol) but is easier for cleaning because you are removing all the residue left over from your previous cleaning. I suggest that if you have any residue, the solution should remain on the fretboard until no longer needed.
Here is the solution that works for me. It is not a water soluble lubricant so you may be able to find a cheaper lubricant in your local drug store.
5 drops of petroleum jelly (not petroleum jelly)
3 drops baking soda
2 drops citric acid (or vinegar)
The first thing you need to do when removing the lubricant from your guitar is to wipe all of the residue off with your finger. If there is any grease on the fretboard, the finger can be removed to expose it to the vinegar and then wiped clean. If there is no grease on the fretboard and the oil on the fretboard is not sticky, then you can just rub it off with a damp paper towel. You need to do this twice — once to loosen the grease and once to wipe the residue off, removing any excess oil. After you’ve wiped off the excess grease, the finger can be left alone to dry.
Now that all is done, it’s time to polish up the guitar, using your chosen instrument polish or oil. The best oil for cleaning the fretboard is a water-based lubricant such as rubbing alcohol. Once the fretboard is clean, you can add your instrument polish, such as the water, alcohol or a petroleum jelly.
After it is dried, the finger can be wiped in such a way as to remove any residue left behind on the fretboard after the instrument was cleaned.
“As a result of the work of the FHWA, we can now recommend two new conditions when determining which new entrants qualify for consideration for emergency aid.”
The Department of Health recommends that new applicants should be “satisfactory,” or a “good fit,” for Medicaid for the first six months of their enrollment, followed by “high satisfaction for more than six months” and then “favorable” or “satisfactory” for 18 months.
